HandyBros vs Astaneh Construction: which fits your home build better?
Both contractors show up as genuine alternatives for a home builder project in the GTA, with strong review profiles and few complaints. This comparison, based on our methodology, looks at what separates them when the job is a full build or major renovation rather than a small repair.
The differences that matter
- Rescue work vs clean builds. HandyBros has a specific track record of finishing projects abandoned by other contractors, while Astaneh's reviews center on smooth, uninterrupted jobs from start to finish.
- Dedicated project management. Astaneh names a project manager, Rana, who coordinates communication and site efficiency, giving it a more structured management layer than HandyBros' crew-led model.
- Scale of past work. Astaneh's summary includes whole-home gut jobs alongside kitchens and basements, suggesting more experience with larger-scope builds than HandyBros' kitchen, bathroom, basement, and exterior focus.
- Subcontractor handling. Astaneh explicitly vets subcontractors and treats them as partners, a detail that matters for a home builder pulling in multiple trades, while HandyBros' pros lean on its own named crew.
- Review profile strength. Astaneh edges ahead with a perfect 5.0 rating and higher composite score and confidence, though HandyBros has more total reviews (151 vs 118).

What reviewers say
HandyBros | Home Renovations & General Contracting
Rob and the HandyBros team deliver consistent, high-standard work across kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and exterior projects. Reviewers consistently highlight transparent pricing, reliable scheduling, clear communication via text and site visits, and attention to detail in finishing. The crew (including named specialists Yi on tiling, Eddie on bathroom work, Gabe, Ron, and Eric) earns praise for professionalism, staying on budget, and willingness to fix issues or complete work abandoned by other contractors.
Astaneh Construction
Astaneh Construction earns five stars consistently across 119 reviews for whole-home and kitchen work. Reviewers credit Hamed and his team (especially Rana as project manager) with clear communication, accurate pricing that never inflates mid-project, and reliable on-time completion. They bring organized design perspective and solve problems without cutting corners.
The operation stands out for treating homeowners' concerns as partners, not obstacles. Work quality is precise and detailed; sites stay clean. Clients report lower stress than typical renovation experiences, and many commit to future projects with the same team. Subcontractors visibly respect Hamed and Rana, which reviewers notice and value.
Which should you pick?
Pick HandyBros | Home Renovations & General Contracting if
- You need a contractor willing to pick up and finish a project another crew walked away from
- You want direct daily contact with the same named tradespeople doing the work
- Your project is more kitchen, bathroom, basement, or exterior scope than a full build
Pick Astaneh Construction if
- You're planning a whole-home gut job or larger-scope build and want a dedicated project manager
- You want subcontractors formally vetted and managed as part of the process
- You want the highest-rated option with a track record of zero budget overruns
Verdict
The right pick depends on what stage your build is at and how many trades you need coordinated. Astaneh Construction fits better for a ground-up or whole-home build where a dedicated project manager and vetted subcontractor network matter, and its review profile is slightly stronger across the board. HandyBros is the better call if you're dealing with a stalled or abandoned project, or a build that's really a cluster of trade-specific jobs (kitchen, bath, basement) where its named crew can take direct ownership.
