Drywall contractors handle the hanging, taping, mudding, and sanding that turns framed studs into finished walls and ceilings. That covers new basement builds, room additions, repairs after a leak or renovation, and skim coating older plaster walls to get rid of texture or damage. Some crews also handle insulation, vapor barrier, and soundproofing board as part of the same job, since that work happens before the drywall goes up. We've listed 21 businesses in this category across Mississauga, ranging from solo tapers who specialize in finish work to larger crews that do full basement and addition packages.
The gap between a good drywall job and a bad one usually only shows up later, once paint goes on and low-angle light hits the wall. Seams that read flat in daylight, corners that stay straight over a few seasons, and ceilings with no visible fastener pattern are the marks of someone who took the extra coat and sanding pass seriously. Before hiring, ask how many coats of mud they apply, whether they level 5 finish for smooth-paint or backlit walls, how they handle dust control, and whether they carry insurance for work in an occupied home. Get a firm timeline, since rushed mud coats that haven't dried properly are the most common cause of cracking and bubbling down the line.
Our ranking pulls these 21 contractors together and scores them on the factors above, along with responsiveness and consistency of finished work. See the full breakdown in the ranked guide to Mississauga renovation contractors, and check our methodology for how we weigh and verify each factor.
